Update on the miracle we've been praying for!

We launched this Summer of Hope in total faith that God would provide through His people.  We are so grateful that 81% of the funds needed for this Summer of Hope are in!  Our young warriors are learning a lesson in faith as they join us in believing God for the remaining amount, even as we go to battle.  The miracle is within reach.

If each person receiving this report gave a gift of just $27.99, the remaining need would be met.

If God leads and enables you to help, we'll be grateful and some awesome Native young people will be encouraged.  Thank you!

Broken Chains Everywhere

That's the bottom line of the largest, most powerful Warrior Leadership Summit ever. Because it was all about "Breaking Free."

The physical "chains" were the bracelets we gave every attendee to wear. They represented the sins and addictions and wounds that enslave and hold them back. Though these young people represent 76 nations from across the continent, they share so many of the same battles.  So much despair, so many babies born to young girls, so many victims, so many life-destroying pain relievers, so much dying.

So "Breaking Free" is more than a conference motto - it is a spiritual battle cry. If, at any time in the conference they were ready to declare their spiritual liberation from any bondage, they were encouraged to tear off that chain and leave it on the stage near the cross.  To our surprise, it started during the praise and worship at the very first session.  It continued at every session.  By the final night, there were broken chains everywhere - on the stage ... and in hundreds of young lives.

One Christian college rep said, "I go to lots of conferences. I can tell the ones that are saturated with prayer. That's what's happening here."  You have been part of an army of prayer warriors who have prayed down a deep work of the Spirit of God here.

Over a hundred of these Native young people have given their hearts to Christ here. They came to an old wooden cross to meet the One whose death for them had captured theirWarriors Worshipping hearts.  They were joined by warriors from our On Eagles' Wings® team who counseled them and led them to Christ.  They were glowing. These were the first spiritual rescues of the Summer of Hope 2008.

More than a third stayed behind one night to repent and abandon their other gods. Another night, long lines of young warriors formed at two microphones to respond to Doug Hutchcraft's stirring "be a rescuer for your people" challenge.  With great passion, young people from dozens of tribes declared, "I will obey God.  I will be a rescuer.  I will shake the gates of hell."  One of our young On Eagles' Wings leaders asked, "Did you ever think you'd ever see anything like this?"  Given the natural reticence of these young people and the daunting challenges they face back home, these are amazing commitments.

In the closing moments of the Summit, the newly announced On Eagles' Wings team members encircled the audience. I told them, "Everyone here can be a warrior for their people.  The team members will go to six reservations to bring the hope of Jesus.  And hundreds of you will go back to your own reservation with the same mission - to fight for your people, to fight for your reservation."

Each On Eagles' Wings warrior then raised an arm over their section of the audience and prayed aloud and simultaneously for the people there.  It was passionate prayer from broken hearts.  Then the audience extended a hand toward the OEW warrior near them and prayed aloud for that warrior.  It was a memorable time of spiritual warriors commissioning each other for the life-saving mission they have to their people.

Then team members and Native Christian elders moved through the audience, passing a baton down every row, representing the legacy of the Gospel being passed to this generation.  Then voices were raised, shouting from God's Word, "If the Son shall make you free, you will be free indeed!"  (John 8:36)Breaking Free T-Shirt Image and "I run in the path of Your commands for You have set my heart free" (Psalm 119:32). It was a moving Declaration of Independence from the bondages that enslave so many.

Now the liberated return to their reservations to be liberators has begun. To spread the freedom Christ bought with His blood.  To be hope for their people.

And as they disperse across the continent, 60 of them stayed behind. They are the warriors of the two On Eagles' Wings teams for the Summer of Hope 2008.  After two days of intensive spiritual preparation and rescue training at Boot Camp, they are headed to Canadian and U.S. reservations - 12 in all - to bring the hope they have found to many who have no hope.

And as you pray, you will be with them every step of the way. Every battle. Every victory. And your prayer will decide outcomes in every battle.  We look forward to bringing you with us to the front lines through these reports.
