Greetings from the far northern reaches of western Canada where, at this time of year the sun doesn’t stay down for very long! Much has happened since our first prayer and praise report. God has been gracious to us and we’ve sure felt the sustaining power of our praying friends around the world. Thank you for being with us in the journey! We had a wonderful finish in our first community, which was surrounded by three other Native Reserves. The youth were bussed in from some of the outlying communities, and the crowds grew night after night, culminating in almost 300 people at our final outreach event. I was thrilled with how both the veterans and first time team members fulfilled their roles and responsibilities as if they were well seasoned in the On Eagles’ Wings way of reaching Native youth. Powerful hope stories were given night after night, and the one on one conversations our team members had with the community help open up avenues of sharing our hope on a more personal level. A huge field was transformed into a multi-focused outreach, with various sports events, competitions and our hilarious crowd breakers that are always a hit with the local people. It’s an amazing tapestry of laughter and fun that set the stage for the serious business of sharing the hope of Jesus. It’s an awesome sight to see the team navigate their way through the outreach events, which, are planned and organized by them as well. By the end of our time in Fort Victory, we could truly say we saw God’s victory unfold as fifty-seven people prayed with our team to begin a personal relationship with Christ. Our visit to this community came at a time that truly was ordained of God. Not many months ago, there was another youth event planned in the regional hub community nearby, where several hundred youth, some Native included, began a relationship with Jesus. Some of these new believers were at our events, and were so greatly encouraged. When we met with the local ministry leaders to discuss the follow-up process, we agreed together to challenge these new young followers of Christ to be front and center in the follow-up process. We are very concerned about preserving the harvest, and help local ministry leaders with proven tools and strategies that have been developed in OEW’s seventeen year history. This was the first time since I’ve been involved with OEW, where we were able to hand the baton to enthusiastic and willing youth who are working under the supervision of trusted local ministry leaders. While we were involved in outreaches in the next community, they had already planned, organized, and hosted their first OEW follow-up event, drawing youth from the communities represented in our outreach events! They now are looking forward to developing a regional OEW style discipleship process, involving the three other communities we are visiting while in this region! Prayer Requests:
Thank you for your prayer support and encouragement for both Team Canada and Team U.S.A.! OEW Team Canada |
